Creation of sustainable natural sites in the Peruvian Amazon

2009-2012

The aim of this project is to legalise the protection of the six Peruvian sites that have been identified by the Field Museum as key areas for their wealth of biodiversity.

The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Peruvian government in order to:

- Develop a legal framework for the protection of indigenous lands*

- Convince the authorities to continue incentivizing non and anti-deforestation measures, which will allow for investment in forests that are still intact.

- Full-scale testing of the REDD mechanism.
