Participation of African Science and Technology Correspondents at the UNCCD 10th meeting of the Committee on Science and Technology and Conference of Parties

2011 - 2012

This project aims to ensure that the Committee on Science and Technology is able to play a critical role in COP decision-making and strengthen the links between science, policy and action. The Science and Technology Correspondent (STC) is the backbone of efforts to strengthen the role that science plays in the implementation of the Convention. The participation of all STCs is essential to ensure that affected country parties, especially from Africa, are adequately represented and have their say in the scientific discourse, negotiations and decision making processes. After the conference, the STC is expected to play a much needed role in building stronger relationships and networks with the global scientific community and acts as a contact between the CST and the wider scientific and technical community at the national level integrating science into the National Action Programme.
