"The End of the Line" is a documentary dealing with the issue of overfishing. Highly publicised in the United Kingdom, it was nicknamed "An inconvenient truth for the ocean" by the "The Economist" magazine. Following its release, major restaurant chains announced that they were changing their habits in looking at the origin of their fish-based products.
Consumer awareness of this issue is currently poor and significant efforts need to be made. The political environment in particular needs to be informed so that concrete and regulatory action can be taken, such as introducing fishing quotas and creating marine sanctuaries that would prohibit fishing.
